About No 13 Gallery

No 13 Gallery is  owned by photographer and printmaker Sheila Borthwick, assisted by photographer husband Alan. We showcase our own work as well as several local guest artists and printmakers and stock a range of gifts and jewellery sourced from  independent makers. We aim for a design emphasis on our products and support independent UK businesses. We do not stock  cheap Chinese products as there is a wealth of makers especially in Scotland and North of England. We also support Fair Trade and ethical outlets.Sheila also designs  her own merchandise, often linked to our exhibitions.

We have a selection of greeting cards, some handmade by our artists or other independent artists. We aim to carry a better class of card with a design emphasis rather than the usual mass produced cards found in most outlets.

We very much believe in Shop Local supporting local High Street businesses.

Galleries seldom feature photography or printmaking but photography is now generally recognised as an art form and we intend to feature high quality work with occassional guest exhibitors. We prefer all work to be either printed traditionally as silver gelatin or by archival inks on fine art papers. Printmaking is a long and involved process often created in stages and editions are low numbered or monoprints. If more information is required, please email and we can forward an explanation of techniques. We like to say most work is "by the hand of the artist".We are now showing contemporary art in various media from selected artists.
